Me peforming at the Comedy Cabaret in Philly-(above). Also below is a description of my most recent improv show that I attended starring Brad Sherwood from Whose Line is it Anyway. There are some pictures from the event on the photo page.
The most recent show I saw was at Moravian College on January 31st. The show started at 8pm but doors opened at 7pm. I was there by 6:40pm. Needless to say it was just above freezing and there was a light rain. It was 7:05 by the time they let us in. The one security guy gave me a look saying just hold on (stupid rent-a-pigs) when I pointed to him that it was well past seven by several minutes. Mind you he was inside very warm while the rest of us were cold and outside. They lets us in and my friend and I got seats in the front row. Brad peforms with his one buddy Dave Bushnell. He has been doing improv with him for about ten years now. They come out on stage and the first game they do is one called Pillars/Fill-In I believe. They need people to do the game with them. He asked to come on stage and I did of course along with two other people. He shook my hand along with the others and asked us our names. He has the softest hands I have ever felt on a guy. AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!! So the game goes they are talking about a Lord of the Rings type movie and when they tap us on the shoulder we say the first thing that comes to our head or whatever. It was so much fun. I felt bad for the kid that got pulled on stage, he was about sixteen and was a little on the panicky side. I thought he was gonna pass out. There was another girl on stage as well. She didn't do too bad. The end of the game I was starting to go blank and couldn't think. I did get a big laugh when I filled in the blank with
"get Vodka", Brad even seemed suprised by that one. Then the game was over. They did a game called Quick Change. He gave three people in the audience bicycle horns. Served same fuction as Drew's bell. Everytime somebody somebody would squeak the horn they would have to change the last thing they just said. The scenario was the Home Shopping Organ Network. They did the game Sound Effects. Yanked two people from the audience for that one. They did Moving people. The person that got Brad, it took her a while to figure out the concept of the game. She did eventually they were doing a ice fishing scenario I think it was or water ski mobile things. She pushed him down the ice hole so he is on the stage floor and the three of them are trying to get him up. Got a picture of that one. It was hilarious. Then there was a game I think it was called interview or something like that. His buddy Dave interviewed this lady about her job. The lady was a midwife. So as Dave is asking the questions and she is responding Brad is acting them out or being a comical version of people who sign speeches and what not. Example the lady said she basically catches babys so Brad was getting into and umpire stance etc etc. Then there was the Marriage game, where a married couple would go up on stage and they each had a bell and a squeaky horn. Brad and Dave would pretend to be them and Brad was pretending to be the husband and Dave the wife. Brad was snoring so she rang the bell because it was true and if something was off but what he said or did she would hit the squeaky toy. The same thing went for the husband and Dave pretending to be the wife. There was another game called Interrogation. They sent Dave out of the room while Brad chose what crime Dave committed how and with what evidence from the audience. Basically from what Brad hints at during the interogation Dave has to figure out what he did when he comes back into the room. Dave was ugly in public, who is a guy that had three nipples, who stole a breast pump from the convience store WAWA. Yes we have a convience store chain named wawa, Brad was dumbfounded by that one. He got a kick out of that for a good twenty minutes[got pictures of him on the floor while Dave is trying to figure it out.])and the evidence was a Zebra and a chartreuse crayon. He winded up forgetting the ugly in public part so we remined him. Dave put his fingers in his ears while somebody told Brad about that little part he forgot. HEHEHE. Brad said it was the longest version of the game he ever did and joked about how they would miss their flight because of it. The last game was Rap Song. They took a guy a from the audience and Brad did a rap about him from the info the guy gave him. The guy's name was Tom. Basically while Brad was rapping and would say " my name is" the audience member would say "MC Tom". His buddy Dave was doing the rapping sounds and dance across the stage the way rappers do. It was hilarious. That was it. I took pictures even though it said no cameras allowed. They asked people to open their purses but didn't say anything about coat pockets. If they would have done their jobs, than its their fault I got in with the camera, not mine. My friend that came with said the security guard looked a little pissed when I was taking pictures, but Brad didnt seem to mind. If Brad would have looked irked I would have stopped. I did not see them or get to meet them after the show. I tried to find a side entrance but the buildings are sort of interconnected there so who knows where they exited. Oh well. Pictures from the show are on the next page.
